MARGHERITA’S SUNDAY – GOULASH SOUP

Margherita back from Hungary has  got a surprise for you 

Hello friends! I would like to share this recipe for goulash soup with you. Our ingredients and way to prepare food in Italy may be a little different from what you’re used to in your own country, but I will do my best to translate them for you.

For 4 servings                                     Per 4 persone

500 g Beef                                            500 gr di carne di manzo

50 g Cooking fat                                 50 gr di strutto o di olio

or oil

100 g Onions                                      100 gr di cipolla

5 teaspoons of paprika                    5 cucchiaini  di paprika dolce

1 teaspoon of Chili paprika            1 cucchiaino di Paprika forte

5 gr cumin                                           5 gr cumino

2 liter water                                        2 l. acqua

1,5 teaspoons of salt                        1,5 cucchiaino di sale

2- 3 potatoes                                      2 - 3 patate       

2 – 3 Carrots                                       2 -3 carote

5 teaspoons of “Gulyàskrém”       5 cucchiaini di  “Gulyàskrém”      

 

Chop up the onions to small pieces fry it in fat tilli it turns yellow.

Tritare la cipolla e rosolarla nell’olio o nello strutto.

Add a teaspoons of paprika , cumin and one chili paprika.

Aggiungere la paprika dolce, quella forte e il cumino.

Cut the beef to small dices, pour it on the fried onion, mix it well, end stew it under lid till the meet becomes tender and also add carrot and 5 teaspoons of “Gulyàskrém”. Constantly refill the moisture that has evaporated with a little water.

Aggiungere la carne tagliata in piccoli pezzi, mescolare bene e salare aggiungendo un po’ d’acqua. Lasciare cuocere per 10 minuti a fuoco basso mescolando continuamente.

 

 

 

 

 

When the beef is ready, add water to cover, add diced potatoes , carrots and salt.

Quando la carne è a metà cottura aggiungete l’acqua fino a coprire, le patate tagliate a pezzetti, le carote e il sale.

 

 

 

When the potatoes are soft, your gulash will be ready. You can serve some white rice as a side dish.
